Malls are definitely fun. But, Big G Mall at Margao Goa is a special treat. The mall is well-maintained and there were even places for kids to engage in fun activities. The branded shops and the huge number of people visiting the place make it look dynamic and energetic. Absolutely a place to hang out with friends or family…

The Shantadurga temple is a truly amazing and delightful tourist attraction in Goa. We had a very peaceful and spiritual time there. The temple architecture is one of a kind and as I love to visit ancient temples and monuments it was an amazing experience for me to visit this ancient temple in Goa. We clicked a couple of pictures to keep the memories of our visit intact for years to come. Hereafter the next destination that we set foot towards was the Se Cathedral Goa. This is an ancient church and is renowned for its magnificent architecture. It is a mega structure and is the largest church in Asia. Hence the Se Cathedral is a tourist hotspot in the state. The renowned church is an architectural master piece and is dedicated to St. Catherine. The church depicts a Portuguese Gothic style of architecture. The exterior portion of the structure shows Tuscan architecture whereas the architectural style of the interiors is Corinthian. The facade of this church is as high as 98 feet. The Golden Bell housed in one of the towers of the Se Cathedral has a very rich sound. The relics of St. Francis Xavier were also put on public display in this church. Due to its historic and architectural brilliance the Se Cathedral church has been declared as a world heritage monument by the UNESCO. Considered as one of the most pious and sacred monuments of the Christian community the Church is flocked by thousands of tourists from all parts of the globe. The church is quite strategically located just opposite to the Basilica de Bom Jesus and is easily accessible from all the major locations of Goa. Se Cathedral is open for prayer on all week days including Sundays from morning 7:30am to 6:30 pm in the evening.
The building comprises of 8 chapels and 15 altars. The interior portion of the church comprises of a nave that is 72 feet in dimension and two isles of 57 and a half feel each. The chapels of St. Bernard, St. Anthony, Cruz Dos Milagres and The Holy Ghost are also housed by this ancient place of worship. Description : The beautiful composition of interior and exterior decors at Alila Diwa made our stay at Goa very special! I have been to many luxury hotels, but this one attracted me so much. Being close to acres of paddy field with a huge swimming pool at its entrance brought a refreshing ambiance to the place.
Goa is a famous tourist destination and has a variety of attractions that allure tourists from all parts of the world. As I posted previously we visited the Anjuna beach in Goa which is famous for its hot water lakes and tall pine trees. It was an amazing site as one can forget all his worries of the busy city life here. Hereafter we decided to visit the famous place of sanctity in Goa i.e. the Shri Shantadurga Temple in Ponda, Goa. I love to visit places which have unique architectural style and historical relevance. This was the perfect destination for me The temples in Goa are very peculiar in their location, spaciousness and architectural style. They truly stand out as compared to other temples in India. The Shantadurga temple is located at Kavelem also known as Kapilpura in Goa. It is one of the most pious and largest temples in Goa. This historic temple was built long back in around 1738 AD when Goa was under the rule of the Maratha king Shahu Raje. The presiding deity of this shrine is goddess Shantadurga who is a reincarnation of goddess Parvati. Goddess Shantadurga or Shanteri is considered as the deity of peace. The idol of Shantadurga is erected in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple in between the destroyer lord Shiva and the Preserver lord Vishnu. A beautiful lake is housed in front of the tall structures that are meant to store oil for the religious rituals. When the lamps are lit in the evening and the sheen of the lamps illuminate the water of the lake this scene is truly spiritually reviving and devotees in large volumes come to visit the Shantadurga temple during this time.
The temple entrance is one of a kind as it takes visitors to a trance owing to the mellifluous notes that are played at the entrance. The dome that is built over the temple is very artistically carved and the detailed engravings on it depict the expertise of the artisans of the bygone era. Apart of the beauty of the temple the surroundings are also awe – inspiring. The lush greens and scenic beauty along with soothing atmosphere serve as perfect settings to this spiritual abode. After visiting the beautiful Arambol beach in North Goa we were all so eager to visit more of the exotic beaches in the state. So after much of pondering we picked the Anjuna beach to be our next destination. This famous tourist spot is located at a distance of around 18 kilometres from Panaji. This beach extends to 30 kilometres along the coastline of West Goa. It is more precisely located in the Bardez Taluka region in west Goa that runs along the Arabian Sea. The beach is renowned for its natural beauty. The tall palm trees and magnificent fine white sand draw the interest of nature lovers and vacationers from all parts of the world. The beach is also known as Ozran by the local residents which refer to the Jewel of Anjuna. The unusual rocky formations strewn across the Anjuna beach give it a very distinct and peculiar touch hence making it even more popular among tourists. A characteristic feature of the beaches of Goa is the trance music and rave parties that started from this very beach in the 1950s to the mid 1960s when hippies started visiting the Anjuna Beach and used to throw rave parties with awesome trace music to groove with. The full moon nights look mesmerising and mystical as the silver moonlight showers on the white sand and silver waters of the Arabian Sea that washes the Anjuna Beach. New Year and Christmas parties organized here under the moonlight draw attention of tourists every year. If you love shopping like I do there is a famous and cosy street shopping market in proximity to the Anjuna beach. A variety of Kashmiri handicraft items, cafes and bars are located in this flea market. You can purchase a lot of itty witty stuff from this market at reasonable prices. It is even better if you can bargain well. The best time to pay a visit to this exotic and blissful location in Goa is between early November and March. The beach remains very crowded during the Christmas and New Year rush season. The colourful beach parties organized here are a great vogue especially amongst youngsters. One place to get it all! That’s what I would say about Margao Market. I have known Goa is a place for shopping antiques, pearls and shells. But, in this market, it was even more crowded. Spice varieties, nuts varieties, plenty of food outlets and what more there were different kinds of liquors too!
As we were in Goa now we all were quite excited to visit the tourist hotspots of the state. I am a nature lover and the idea of laying and relaxing on the sun – kissed beaches allures me. So we all set foot to visit the beautiful Arambol Beach in Goa. This beach is a famous tourist destination and hence the infrastructure for hospitality services has been developed here quite well. There are a number of hotels around the beach, eating joints that serve delicious local cuisine etc. to offer a memorable experience to tourists. The way to this pristine and serene beach is also as interesting as the site itself. The Arambol Beach is located at a distance of around 50 kilometres from the capital city of Goa i.e. Panaji. The beach lies at the Northern part of Goa and can be reached via a winding road which extends through a furrow of exotic cashew trees. We picked a couple of cashews on the wa as well. The Aambol Beach is a rocky beach that houses a fresh water lagoon. This lagoon extends to a thick jungle at the bottom of the valley. Huge volume of tourists flock to this mesmerising beach to take a dip into the lake that is fed by hot water springs. The sulphur rich mud that lines the lake is considered to have medical characteristics and hence tourists love applying this mud on their skins to make it look healthy and glowing. People who wish to take refuge from their hectic life and are looking for a tranquil and peaceful location to relax and rejuvenate their minds and body must visit this exotic beach in Goa. The beach stretches over 16 kilometres of coastline and is surrounded by cliffs that are best suited for active tourism activities such as paragliding and boat trips. People go on boat trips to watch the amazing dolphins that reside in the waters that wash the Arambol Beach. You can also go for swimming and surfing in the sea.
There are also a couple of local shops adjacent to the beach that sells handicrafts, junk jewellery and clothes etc.
Butterfly Conservatory Of Goa | Image Resource : wikipedia.org
Superb! I never thought there would be a conservatory for butterflies. When I went to Goa, we were astonished to hear there is a park full of butterflies. Wow! I was amazed to see such beautiful creatures fluttering here and there around the colourful flowers. It was good to hear that it is the first conservatory in India. I am a pharmacist y profession and hence most of the times I am quite held up with my work. But despite my tied up schedule I make sure to take out time for my friends, family and myself. I love to travel to various places across the country as well as abroad so every now and then I squeeze out time to go on a trip to rejuvenate my mind and body. This vacation I planned a trip to the beautiful beaches of Goa. As I prefer budget travel I generally travel via train or budget air carriers. The very first thing I needed to do was to plan my trip as I like things organized. I searched on the internet for all the available options to reach Goa and finally decided to take one of the Bangalore Goa trains for the trip. Two of my friends were also accompanying me and hence I felt it would be quite exciting to chit chat on the way and have a nice journey via train. I booked the tickets online as it is a very hassle free and convenient way of making reservations. You can also go for the irctc app or popular travel websites to secure air or train tickets for any destination in India as well as abroad. I took the KCG YPR express to Goa for my trip. The train departed the Yesvantpur junction in Bangalore and dropped us at the Vasco Da Gama Railway station in Goa. If you wish to take some other train from Bangalore to Goa you have a couple of other alternatives as well. There are around 13 weekly trains that connect the two regions. If you are planning to leave early you can go for the Vellankanni Vasco Da Gama express. This train leaves Bangalore at 7:32 am in the morning and the train number is 07316. You can also take the KCG Yesvantpur Junction express if you are planning to travel a bit late in the morning. This train leaves the Bangalore station at 9:45 am. However the last train between the two cities leaves at 10:30 pm. Its train number is 02683.
