It was the last day of my trip. And I had already decided that I would visit the famous Parvati Hill Temples. The temple gates opened at 5 o’clock in the morning. So I woke up early that day, had my shower and got ready to visit the hilltop in the south east part of the city.
I booked a seat in the bus to reach there. On reaching the temple, the vicinity itself fascinated me and encouraged more to explore within. There were magnificent temples all around. This temple was built by the last Peshwa, Nana Saheb Peshwa.
At the foot of the hill, there was the Vetal Chabutra. It was a square plinth of stones in an area. Cloth pieces with sindoor could be seen there. People worshipped the Vetal deity. It was a belief in the locals.

Going a little further, there was a place rather small yet surrounded by hutments and was known as Mangir Buwa. Historically, Mangir Buwa was a saintly person and the disputes and feuds were settled in his presence.
The Math was a little more ahead near the steps. These were visible pieces and crumbled remains of a plinth. It was meant for religious purposes. I went further and discovered a small temple like structure at the center of the hill which was open on all sides and had a flat top and squarish stone block. It was the Sati monument. Some kind of belief was attached to the structure. I climbed onto the monument and had a pleasant experience of having a exotic view of the entire city from the top.

Again there was a Talim Kholi, a room for exercise and training of ancient young rulers. It was interesting to note that the young rulers were on continuous guard and meticulous care during their royal upbringing. To its right was a balcony, where one could see the entrance of the Parvati Hill.
Since it was my last day in the city, I took leave from the hilltop and managed to shop at the new place. It was a great and healthy experience at a new place. I would definitely find time to come Pune again so as to visit those places, which I missed in this trip.
