After visiting the beautiful Arambol beach in North Goa we were all so eager to visit more of the exotic beaches in the state. So after much of pondering we picked the Anjuna beach to be our next destination. This famous tourist spot is located at a distance of around 18 kilometres from Panaji. This beach extends to 30 kilometres along the coastline of West Goa. It is more precisely located in the Bardez Taluka region in west Goa that runs along the Arabian Sea.
The beach is renowned for its natural beauty. The tall palm trees and magnificent fine white sand draw the interest of nature lovers and vacationers from all parts of the world. The beach is also known as Ozran by the local residents which refer to the Jewel of Anjuna. The unusual rocky formations strewn across the Anjuna beach give it a very distinct and peculiar touch hence making it even more popular among tourists.
A characteristic feature of the beaches of Goa is the trance music and rave parties that started from this very beach in the 1950s to the mid 1960s when hippies started visiting the Anjuna Beach and used to throw rave parties with awesome trace music to groove with. The full moon nights look mesmerising and mystical as the silver moonlight showers on the white sand and silver waters of the Arabian Sea that washes the Anjuna Beach. New Year and Christmas parties organized here under the moonlight draw attention of tourists every year.
If you love shopping like I do there is a famous and cosy street shopping market in proximity to the Anjuna beach. A variety of Kashmiri handicraft items, cafes and bars are located in this flea market. You can purchase a lot of itty witty stuff from this market at reasonable prices. It is even better if you can bargain well. The best time to pay a visit to this exotic and blissful location in Goa is between early November and March. The beach remains very crowded during the Christmas and New Year rush season. The colourful beach parties organized here are a great vogue especially amongst youngsters.
