The next place which I decided to visit was the himachal state museum of Shimla. This museum is located inside an old Victorian house which is carefully designed to house the museum inside it. The museum which is perched on top of the lonely hill top which is known as the Inveram, is one of the most famous sites in Shimla.
The museum is visted by many tourists both local and national daily for its amazing collection of arts and artefacts of the state of Himachal Pradesh. The view of the mountains along with the solitude of the place makes this location even more worth visiting if you are in Shimla.

There are different galleries and sections inside the museum which has stored different collections of arts and artefacts. There is an archaeology section which has collection of memorable items from historic to pre historic ages collected. The best part of the museum is that it not only has collection regarding the Himachal State but also of the Indian and other north Indian states. The best section in the museum is the Pahari miniature paintings and the rajasthan paintings which has history and dates back to the mughal times and Rajasthani heritage.
There are many wall paintings in the museum too which depicts the various lifestyles of the hilly state of India since ancient times. The paintings are also done of the various gods and goddesses of the state which are revered by people since age old times. The museum has preserved these paintings very well. The wood carvings too need special mention. These wood carvings are said to be very old and very minutely made and till now they are in excellent shape and size.

There is another section inside the Himachal State Museum which has a very wide and an amazing collection of arms which are used since ancient times by the people in the state. The numismatics section of the museum has a very rich collection of coins of the ancient times and also the jewellery section needs a special mention. This place should be visited by everyone who visits Shimla and wants to know more about the Himachal state of India.
The next place that I decided to visit was Tara Devi temple of Shimla.
