Usually one gets tired in the middle of the trip because the journey is not always hassle free. But for me, the journey was getting more and more exciting day by day. Exploring new places in the mysterious city was tempting me to dig more. Therefore, I welcomed every morning with pleasure and enthusiasm. Another place was yet to be explored, the Aga Khan Palace.
The aga Khan Palace is on the Pune-Nagar road. Hence, I had to pick a bus to reach there. I woke up early in the morning, packed my bag and got hold of my camera and was all set to the Palace.

The infrastructure of the Palace caught me. What a place!!! It had Italian arches and spacious lawns. The whole building comprised of five halls. It enthralled the eyes of every spectator with its radiance and scenic architecture. Historically the place is very significant. Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi have their memorials in the complex. They, along with their secretary Mahadev Desai were interned in the Palace before the Quit India Movement.
The Palace is carved with a number of photos and portraits which depict glimpses from the life of Mahatma Gandhi. The Gandhi National Memorial Society is headquartered in the Palace. I was busy in taking snaps of the historical pictures for my collection.
It was like I was reliving the history. There was a picture gallery and a museum too. The place was embarked with Mahurika nursery school, Kasturba Mahila Khadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya, Library and documentation center, Skill and vocational training center, UNHCR Refugee Guidance center, etc. A number of activities are organized throughout the year. These include the Martyr’s day, Mahashivratri, Independence Day, Republic day and Bapu’s birth anniversary.
It is indeed a place of tourist attraction. I felt myself lucky to have a visit there. The place was magnificent and the knowledge gained on Indian history was immense and vast. I take interest in visiting spiritual and historical places. I must say that I am proud to be a citizen of the nation as the country is a plate full of proud moments.
